Office Reorganisation

FHP Partnership Ltd has carried out a reorganisation of our own offices, including the moving of the Reception/Admin departments into a newly refurbished section within the same building at Hepton Court, and have taken the opportunity to redecorate throughout the offices.

At the same time a complete upgrade of the office IT system has been undertaken to ensure that the data and telecoms systems are completely up to date.

New Projects

FHP Partnership Ltd has been successful in winning the orders for a number of new projects during November and December. These include the design of the mechanical and electrical services in a major distribution depot at Stanton Harcourt, a 71 apartment residential project in Tooting, London and the refurbishment of 3 storey office building for the NHS in Leeds.

Further Works Undertaken

FHP Partnership Ltd are now listed within the top 10 M&E Consultants in terms of work undertaken by building services consultants, which reflects the continuing success in winning contracts, including the the contract for the refurbishment of the 3rd and 4th floors of the City Exchange building on Albion Street, Leeds (formerly Albion Tower) following on from the earlier contract for the replacement of the central plant and refurbishment of the top three floors of the building.

FHP Partnership Ltd have issued tender documents this month for the mechanical and electrical services for the Mall Refurbishment project at the Meadowhall Centre,Sheffield, as well as for the proposed Mayfair building in Leeds, which will be a landmark 27 storey mixed use development in a highly prestigious location at the end of Wellington Street.

Work Undertaken

An independent survey published in the September issue of the monthly H&V News has reported yet again that FHP Partnership Ltd is ranked well within the top 20 of the ‘Top M&E Consultants’ in terms of work undertaken by building services consultants. This confirms the success that FHP Partnership Ltd has achieved this year in winning orders from all market sectors, and the forward order book shows that this trend is not showing any signs of slowing down.

Surveys & Reports

The items below indicate some of the major projects with which FHP Partnership Ltd have been involved this year, however this list is certainly not comprehensive, and whilst these projects have been ongoing FHP Partnership Ltd has also been involved with many smaller projects, including many dilapidation and pre-acquisition surveys for various clients including King Sturge, Colliers CRE and Jones Lang La Salle. These surveys each generated a report and executive summary which was issued to the client and covered buildings varying from office blocks and nursing homes to student accommodation and industrial units.

Albion Tower, Leeds

FHP Partnership Ltd carried out the final inspections prior to handover to the Client, Tops Shops Estates, of the services installed as part of the major refurbishment of the Albion Tower building sited above Leeds Shopping Plaza in Albion Street, Leeds.
The refurbishment entailed re-branding the building as 'City Exchange' and involved FHP Partnership Ltd in the detailed design associated with replacing the central mechanical and electrical plant and installing comfort cooling utilising 4-pipe chilled beams to the top three floors of the building, whilst the lower four floors were occupied by tenants.
Most of the newly refurbished floors have already been let to a major new tenant, and discussions are ongoing with other potential tenants with a view to refurbishing the lower floors.

Thornton Road, Bradford

FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed by Manor Property Group as services consultant responsible for the M&E services involved with the proposed 900 bed student accommodation project at Thornton Road in Bradford. This project is due to start on site early in 2005 and complete in August 2006.

Albion Street, Leeds

FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed by Tops Shops Estates to replace the existing escalator in Albion Street as part of the continuing upgrading of this area of Leeds. This project will involve extensive diversion of existing services in Albion Street to allow the installation of the new escalator pit.

St Gobain Glass, Eggborough

FHP Partnership Ltd was invited to attend the official Opening Ceremony of the new magnetron line at the Saint Gobain Glass (UK) plant at Eggborough, where FHP had been responsible for the design of the entire mechanical and electrical services totalling more than a million pounds. Saint Gobain Glass (UK) advised that they had been extremely pleased with the way the project had progressed to completion and added that the output of the plant had exceeded all expectations in its first few weeks of operation.

Regent Street, Leeds

FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Regent Street Properties to carry out the full design of the mechanical and electrical services involved with the Regent Street residential project in Leeds.
This project involves the installation of pre-fabricated residential units on top of an existing office building without disruption to the office accommodation, and because of the method of pre-fabricated construction, the project is naturally extremely fast-track.

Leodis Phase II & III, Leeds

Work began on site on the 400 bed Leodis Phase II & III student accommodation project at Servia Hill, Leeds for Evans of Leeds Ltd. FHP Partnership Ltd was responsible for the production of the performance specification for the mechanical, electrical and lift services associated with the project which is due to complete in August 2005.

Mayfair, Leeds

FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Sterling Capitol Ltd/City Land Developments Ltd to design the mechanical, electrical, public health and lift services associated with the development of a new landmark building to be called 'Mayfair' on the site of the former Bridge House/Compton House buildings at the end of Wellington Street in Leeds.
This prominently placed new building will be 27 floors high and will consist of a ground floor A3 unit, two floors of office accommodation and 25 floors of residential apartments, all located above 3 levels of fully automated basement parking. The residential accommodation provided in this development will vary from affordable housing units, one and two bedroom apartments through to penthouse level duplex apartments, many of which will be provided with comfort cooling.

Connecting the City, Bradford

Work began on site in Bradford city centre diverting the existing services to clear the area for the proposed construction of the new Broadway Centre shopping complex.
FHP Partnership Ltd had been appointed by Bradford Metropolitan District Council to co-ordinate and design the diversion of the services around the site utilising a common services trench arrangement wherever possible. The services to be diverted included numerous electrical substations and HV cabling, high pressure water and gas mains, together with various fibre optic and copper communications cable routes, in all totalling around £26 million. A full site presence has been provided by FHP Partnership Ltd project engineering division.

Evans of Leeds

FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Evans of Leeds Ltd to carry out the full design of the mechanical services and lighting design associated with the refurbishment of their Director's suite and administration department at their headquarters building in Millshaw, Leeds.
This prestigious project for a major local developer involves the introduction of comfort cooling to the offices by means of 4-pipe chilled beams integrated with a state of the art lighting design to provide a first class office environment, this is made particularly onerous by the fact that the works need to be carried out in two phases without disruption to the operation of this busy office.

Acxiom, Normanton

FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Acxiom to oversee the mechanical and electrical services installations as well as sprinkler and gaseous fire protection installations in connection with the refurbishment of the former data centre at Normanton, near Wakefield.
The project involved a complete refurbishment and updating of the building to meet the current standards required of a fully air conditioned modern data centre and to suit the needs of Acxiom.

Meadowhall Centre, Sheffield

FHP Partnership Ltd has been awarded the prestigious contract for the full design of the services associated with the refurbishment of the malls at Meadowhall Centre, near Sheffield. This project will involve the introduction of comfort cooling to the malls as well as the installation of a completely redesigned lighting scheme. The work will be carried out on a phased basis over the next 2-3 years and the work in the malls will be undertaken at night to ensure minimal disruption to the operation of the centre.
