Staff Appointments
During the course of 2008 FHP Partnership Ltd were pleased to be able to appoint Tony Marshall and Ronaldo Mojica to the post of Associate.
Tony first joined FHP Partnership in 1984 as a senior mechanical engineer when he was with us for 13 years, following which he moved on to do other things. Tony’s return brings with him a wealth of experience and provides a welcome boost to the engineering staff.
Ronaldo joined FHP Partnership Ltd for his second tour of duty as a senior engineer during 2007 and the reward for the hard work he has put in since his return resulted in his promotion to the post of Associate, since when his tireless attitude to work has continued.

FM Department
FHP has set up a Facilities Management company, FHP FM Ltd, to operate from the same address as FHP Partnership Ltd in Leeds, and has appointed John Naisbitt and Andy Hunt to head up this department. This new venture has been already been successful in securing work and looks like being a valuable asset to the FHP group.

Recent New Projects

  • 100 King Street, Manchester
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by CDP Ltd to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the refurbishment of the former HSBC building on King Street, Manchester. The building is a 7 storey, grade 2 star listed office building designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1931.

    The project involved the removal of all of the existing services and installation of new services, including comfort cooling, throughout the building to create Grade A office accommodation with a penthouse at roof level. The cooling on the lower three office floors is to be provided by means of an underfloor cooling system incorporating fan tiles, whilst the upper floors (with a lower floor to ceiling height) are to be cooled by means of VRF heat pump systems.
  • Thomas Cook, Brettenham House, London
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Thomas Cook to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the fit-out of the 6th floor of Brettenham House in London to create the corporate headquarters of Thomas Cook UK and Ireland. The office suite commands spectacular views over the Thames and is finished to an impressively high standard throughout as befits the executive offices and board room of a major travel company.
  • Thomas Cook, Sterling House, Wimbledon
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Thomas Cook to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the fit-out of the 3rd floor of Sterling House in Wimbledon to create the London headquarters of Thomas Cook Sports.
  • Thomas Cook, Bradford, Cooling System Remedial Works
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed to carry out a survey and report on the cooling problems experienced in their office building in Bradford and subsequently FHP have been appointed to produce a tender package and project manage the works associated with the replacement of the existing chillers and modifications to the existing fan coil units and controls to resolve the problems encountered.
  • Thomas Cook, Condition Surveys and Reports on Various Buildings
    FHP Partnership Ltd have been appointed to carry out surveys and produce reports on various problems associated with the mechanical and electrical services on a number of the buildings within the Thomas Cook portfolio in various parts of Great Britain ranging from Falkirk to Brighton and from Shannon to Manchester.
  • Thomas Cook Fire Risk Assessment
    FHP FM Ltd has been appointed by Thomas Cook to carry out a Fire Risk assessment for all of their 809 retail properties within the United Kingdom and to produce a tender package for each of the buildings to ensure that they are in compliance with current standards.
  • Laboratory Projects
    FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed to oversee the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical services associated with the creation of a new Controlled Environment Facility at a laboratory complex in Yorkshire. The value of the M&E services work in the new facility is in the region of £3M and the installation works needs to be carried out without any disruption to the ongoing works within the complex.
  • Paradise Street Project, Liverpool
    FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed by Grosvenor to oversee the installation of the mechanical and electrical services at the Paradise Street project in Liverpool. This has involved the full time presence of up to 3No project engineers on site permanently for almost three years.
  • Calls Wharf, Leeds
    FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed by CDP Ltd to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with a new 40,000sq ft office building to be built overlooking the river at The Calls in Leeds. This building will be a landmark building in an impressive high profile location in this highly sought after area of Leeds and will provide Grade A comfort cooled office accommodation.

    In addition, FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed to design the services associated with the refurbishment of the existing mill building at No 20 The Calls to create comfort cooled fully serviced office accommodation over 3 floors to link into the existing Bracken Developments building with bar and restaurant usage on the lower ground and ground floors and external seating areas adjacent the river.
  • Whitby Marina Facilities, Whitby
    FHP Partnership Ltd has been appointed by Scarborough Council to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the new marina facilities to be built alongside the River Esk in Whitby.
  • MAN Diesel, Hazel Grove, Stockport
    CDP Ltd have appointed FHP Partnership Ltd to survey the mechanical and electrical services within the existing warehouse building to be demolished and to produce an enabling works package for tender to allow the safe phased demolition to proceed and to oversee the works undertaken.

    FHP have also been appointed to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the new warehouse building and new 3 storey headquarters office building to be built on the site of the old buildings that have been demolished. The services to the existing building are to be kept operational throughout the demolition and building works.

Recently Completed Projects

  • Bishopthorpe Palace
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the refurbishment of the Grade 1 listed Bishopthorpe Palace in York, the residence and offices of the Archbishop of York. This project was successfully completed and handed over in the Autumn of 2008.
  • Refurbishment of Existing Malls, Meadowhall
    The refurbishment of the Meadowhall Malls involving the introduction of comfort cooling throughout the malls and new ceilings and associated new lighting scheme has been successfully completed and handed over on time, on budget and with almost zero defects.
  • New Mall and Atrium, Meadowhall
    Contract 3 of the Meadowhall Malls refurbishment project which involved the creation of a new mall and atrium and two large shop units within the centre, together with the introduction of comfort cooling, new ceilings and lighting and new mechanical and electrical services infrastructure has been successfully completed and handed over. This was achieved despite the flooding to the Don Valley a few weeks prior to handover that inundated the ground floor works and inevitably caused the contract completion to be delayed.
  • Creation of New Restaurants in the The Oasis
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Meadowhall Centre Ltd to design and oversee the mechanical and electrical works associated with the reconfiguring of the upper level of The Oasis food court to create four new restaurants, whilst at the same time modifying the ground floor of the Management Suite to create a new reception area and meeting room with lift and WC facilities suitable for disabled access.

    This work has all been completed and has greatly improved the atmosphere within The Oasis and the Management Suite.
  • The Mint, Leeds
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Deltalord to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with a new 8 storey, 150,000 sq ft office building with underground car parking and internal atrium courtyard on Sweet Street, Leeds.

    The building is provided with comfort cooling and heating throughout by means of active chilled beams and has solar panel domestic water pre-heating and has been designed to achieve an “excellent” BREEAM rating.
  • Barrow-in-Furness, B&Q and JJB Stores
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Marshall Construction (West Yorkshire) to arrange for the diversion of the existing services on a former gas depot to allow the creation of a new B&Q store and a new JJB store with associated Fitness Centre.

    FHP then produced the performance specifications for the mechanical and electrical services associated with the new stores and oversaw the design and installation of the works.
  • Office Developments, Lostock, Daresbury and Knowsley
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Marshall Construction (West Yorkshire) to produce performance specifications and oversee the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical services associated with the new office buildings to be built on the office parks in Lostock Gralam, Daresbury and Knowsley.

    Each of the projects involved the building of between 6 and 12 new units ranging in size from 3,000 sq ft to 20,000 sq ft and each unit is provided with comfort cooling throughout. Each site was designed to reclaim a minimum of 10% of its annual energy usage from renewable sources on site in order to comply with Planning requirements.
  • Willow Place, Corby
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Land Securities (formerly Tops Shopping Estates) to design and coordinate the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health services for the redevelopment of the Willow Place, Shopping Centre, Corby. The project included the creation of 26 new retail units, café units, and the modification of existing shop units to create kiosks for market traders and the refurbishment of an existing multi-storey car park to modern secure standards.
  • City Exchange, Leeds
    FHP Partnership Ltd were appointed originally by Tops Estates plc and then by Land Securities Ltd to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the refurbishment of the 100,000 sq ft, 7 storey City Exchange building in Leeds. The refurbishment included a full strip out of the internal areas and redevelopment of the floor plates into contemporary office accommodation, including new toilet and lift cores. The out-dated curtain walling system was removed and full height double glazing was introduced to all facades and a re-modelled reception area and entrance canopy was created at street level.

    The building was provided with comfort cooling throughout comprising 4-pipe active chilled beams and trench heating at the perimeter of the floorplates in front of the full height glazing.

    The project commenced in 2000 and was carried out in 3 separate phases of work beginning at the top of the building without disruption to the existing tenants within the building, and eventually completing the first floor (including a full tenant fit out package for that level) in 2007.

    FHP have also been appointed separately to design the mechanical and electrical services fit-out works required by the incoming tenants on several of the other floors.
  • Exeter College, Oxford University
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the creation of a new catering kitchen within the existing Grade 1 listed Exeter College at Oxford University. This project presented a number of problems which need to be overcome, primarily with bringing in fresh and exhausting waste air from the building and creating ductwork risers within the building without affecting the listed façade of the building.
  • Wolfson Building, University of Hull
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by the University of Hull to design and co-ordinate the mechanical and electrical services associated with the fit-out of a re-configured 5 storey research facility. The building includes three independent fully air conditioned systems serving research unit facilities located from ground to the fourth floor, together will all necessary laboratory services including fume cupboards, CO2 distribution and gas distribution systems.
  • Clough Road, Hull
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Ispace Ltd to design and co-ordinate the diversions of the existing services to enable the creation of a new industrial park to be formed on an existing brown field site next to the River Hull.

    FHP also designed and arranged for the new supplies to be brought to site to serve the 17No new units to be built on the site.
  • Link 62, Normanton, Infrastructure
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by PPG Land Ltd to design and co-ordinate the diversions of existing services to enable the new 108 acre Link 62 distribution park to be created close to junction 31 of the M62 motorway at Normanton.

    FHP also designed and arranged for the new supplies to be brought to site to serve the proposed office buildings and the 7No proposed distribution units ranging in size from 18,000 sq ft to 480,000 sq ft; this involved bringing new electrical HV supply cables over 8km from the nearest primary sub station.
  • Units 1000 and 2000, Link 62, Normanton
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by PPG Land Ltd to design and oversee the installation of the mechanical and electrical services associated with the construction of the first two distribution units to be built on the newly created Link 62 distribution park.

    The units built were 65,000 sq ft and 105,000 sq ft and were provided with fully fitted-out office accommodation incorporating comfort cooling throughout.
  • Macmillan Distribution Centre, Swansea
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by a midlands based mechanical and electrical services contractor to undertake the design and co-ordination of the mechanical and electrical services associated with the development of the Macmillan Distribution warehousing site in Swansea.

    The works involve the building of a new warehouse and associated office complex on an existing remodelled site in Swansea. The existing buildings on site were demolished and the site developed to create a 100,000 sq ft warehousing facility with office building and car parking.

    The project involved considerable highway modifications which necessitated extensive diversions of statutory services on site, and included re-feeding the existing warehousing temporarily until the new complex was completed.

    The project included the provision of heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water services and above ground drainage to office and warehouse buildings
  • Hearing for Life Centre, Bradford Royal Infirmary
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Bradford Royal Infirmary to design the mechanical and electrical services associated with the construction of a new specialist Audiology department for The Ear Trust within the grounds of Bradford Royal Infirmary.

    The project included the provision of comfort cooled accommodation for the majority of the building with specialist acoustically treated rooms for testing the hearing of patients, where naturally minimizing the noise from the M&E plant was a major consideration.
  • Oasis Academies, Wintringham and Immingham
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Gardiner & Theobald LLP to oversee the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical services associated with 2No new Oasis Academies in Lincolnshire.
  • 124 Dockfield Road, Shipley
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Bradford Metropolitan District Council to design and oversee the installation of the mechanical and electrical services involved with the creation of 2No industrial units at the Shipley Sustainable Development Park. The project involved completely removing the cladding from an existing building, whilst retaining its structural steel frame, and re-cladding the framework to create two new industrial units, one of which was a waste recycling centre and the other was a steam boiler refurbishment facility.
  • Performing Arts Centre, Crewe
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by a midlands based mechanical and electrical services contractor to undertake the design and co-ordination of the mechanical and electrical services associated with a new Performing Arts facility to be formed at the Crewe campus of Manchester Metropolitan University.

  • This facility included 4No theatres, 2No dance rooms, a music room, 2No recording studios and 6No practice rooms as well as changing rooms and welfare facilities.
  • Sterecycle, Rotherham
    FHP Partnership Ltd was appointed by Mascot Management Ltd to oversee the design and installation of the mechanical and electrical services associated with a waste recycling plant built for Rotherham City Council. The plant incorporated 2No hot oil autoclaves which heated up waste and the end products of the process could then be used as fuel for an electricity generating plant.
